These are some really interesting thoughts that I would love to see explored further - but I am having trouble relating much of it to the clinical description of schizophrenia.
The Laing book was written in 1960, so the thinking in schizophrenia has moved on! It used to be thought of as a split in one’s self- schizo- has the same root as schism. I remember confusing it with “multiple personalities” because of this. Schizophrenia as it is seen today is more of a loss of contact with reality or a difficulty seeing the difference between “fantasy” and reality.

It all makes so much more sense now that I know the book is from the 60s!
